Miami Beach Convention Center

Situated among residential neighborhoods, the Botanical Garden, Collins Canal, and Lincoln Road, the Miami Beach Convention District dramatically improves the day-to-day experience for residents and convention attendees alike. With West 8, Isaac was the lead designer and project manager for over 15 acres of public space. The design, which includes two parks and streetscape improvements, showcases the unique flora of Miami. One park transforms a 6-acre parking lot into a shaded public park planted with a primordial species palette. Another recently completed 3.5-acre park along Collins Canal removed two acres of hardscape and buildings and opened up green space towards the historic Carl Fisher Clubhouse and Collins Canal. The design preserves mahogany trees and a century-old Strangler Fig which is celebrated as a feature in this park. An outdated seawall was moved and reprogrammed as a park bench; and the a new littoral shelf w as planted with black mangroves.
